Children and Youth

Nursery Care

Nursery care is provided for children from birth through preschool during worship throughout the year.

Sunday School

From September through June, children from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade have Sunday School classes during worship. Children attend the first part of worship with their families, then leave for Sunday School after the children’s message. Classes are divided by grade, with a common theme presented in age-appropriate lessons. On communion Sundays, children re-join their families as communion is celebrated.   Our curriculum is from Spark House, with the following grade-based components:

whirllogo

Pre-K – Grade 2: Every Whirl lesson follows a 4-part sequence: Welcome, Hear, Respond, and Launch.  Each week the kids identify where they are on the church calendar, watch an animated video, dive into the Whirl Story Bible, respond to the scripture lesson with creative leaflet activities or physical games, and circle up to review the lesson.

Grades 3-6: Engaging children through interactive lessons using LEGO bricks!  Each week includes a gathering activity, Bible lesson, time to build with LEGOS, and a discussion about how the Lego project relates to the scripture theme for the week.

Grades 7 - 12

Grades 7 – 12: A customizable curriculum that’s rooted in historic Christianity, but speaks to youth on their level. Built on 3 key foundations:

  • Encounter– present tough theological questions through a DVD presentation.
  • Engage– discuss questions and interact with each other through a variety of mediums.
  • Respond– youth present their points of view with classmates and share with those outside of class.

Confirmation Class

Our confirmation program is a two-year program that encourages our youth to learn about our faith traditions and to explore their faith. Confirmation classes are held from November through May, for youth in grades 9 and 10.

Youth Groups

Our 5th through 8th grade youth group has named itself “KOWS” – Kind, Outrageous, Wonderful Students. They meet regularly, usually on Sunday early evenings. Keep an eye on the calendar for upcoming events.

Our high school youth group also meets regularly, usually on Sunday evenings.

Contact Pastor Kevin with any questions about either youth group:  899-1722.

Making sure that our church is a safe, nurturing place for all is extremely important to us. We have a comprehensive Safer Sanctuaries policy.
