May 19, 2021 – Note from Pastor Jen

Spring has come to Chittenden County! The warm weather and changes in mandates have really brought on a sense that things are opening up again. Navigating these changes is not without its challenges (See last week’s sermon for some reflections on getting some space), and yet – there is hope! Good things are coming.

Many thanks to all who participated in the congregational survey coordinated by the Listeners. We’re sorting through the responses and taking feedback into consideration in our reentry planning. Our goal remains to transition to a single worship experience that is available simultaneously online and in-person in our sanctuary. To allow time for purchase, installation, and training on the necessary tech equipment, and in keeping with the state’s previously announced July 4 grand re-opening timeline, we are planning to have the first indoor, in-person worship at 10:00 am on July 11. More details to come on what to expect in that first hybrid service.

However, we also recognize that several people are ready to get back together sooner than July, especially if we can meet outside. The Worship Ministry is considering adding an in-person, outdoor “Sunrise Chapel” service during the three Sundays prior to July 11 (June 20, June 27, and July 4). This service would be a shorter version of the 10 am Zoom service with prayers, scripture, some music, and a brief message for all God’s children. The hour-long worship service would still occur at 10 am on Zoom.

If you would be interested in attending at least one Sunrise Chapel service, I kindly ask that you indicate that interest in this one-question survey. It would be an early bird experience (from 8:45-9:15) and would occur rain or shine with the help of our backyard tent.

Again, thank you for your comments and especially for your prayers as we figure out the best ways to move forward together. We will all be ready for different things at different times, and that is ok! I look forward to the coming months of reconnection.

Don’t forget to wear red for Pentecost worship this week!
