May 28, 2024-Sabbath opportunities

This Sunday, the scripture (Mark 2:23—3:6) invites us to consider what Sabbath looks like in our day, and just in time, too. Summer is a season that both affords a break from the routine and provides endless opportunities for activity. As the school year winds down and we begin to relish time out-of-doors and out of town, we’ll reflect in worship this week on the good rest God desires for us.

Part of good rest can mean a pause from regular rhythms. Here’s my annual encouragement to all church ministries to consider taking a month off from meetings as appropriate. June or July is often a logical choice, but each ministry can decide the best way to observe Sabbath time.

Another part of good rest can be seeking new and enriching experiences. If you haven’t already marked your calendars, Mark Miller will be giving an organ concert at Shelburne UMC this Friday, May 31 at 7:00 pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend as a phenomenal musician plays a phenomenal instrument.

I hope our hardworking Clutter Barn team is also getting some rest this week after a very successful first sale of the season. 🙂

Until Sunday,

Pastor Jen
