December 12, 2023- Schedule of Events

As we dig out from the snow (and while I nurse a few sick kids), I’ll remind us of our upcoming worship schedule. This is a wonderful time of year to invite family and neighbors to church. There are several different ways to relive the story, find support for the season, and start the new year with intention.

Sunday, Dec. 17, 10:00 am (with live stream) – Advent III worship with “Friendly Beasts” Christmas Pageant. We’ll hear and see how the animals took in Jesus’ birth with a presentation from our Ministry in Christian Education. A special collection will benefit retired United Methodist clergy (UCC next year).

Wednesday, Dec. 20, 7:00 pm (no live stream) – Longest Night worship at Richmond Congregational UCC. This service is designed for those who need space to mourn, grieve, or find some silence in this season. As we approach the longest night of the year, we will gather together to pray, light candles, and be honest about the losses and love that surround us.

Sunday, Dec. 24, 10:00 am (no live stream) – Outdoor live nativity at UCU. On Christmas Eve morning, all are welcome to join in the song and the story as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. We’ll have costumes, live animals, and some hot cocoa to keep body and soul merry and bright.

Sunday, Dec. 24, 7:00 pm (with live stream) –  Christmas Eve service at UCU. This service of lessons and carols will culminate in a candlelit singing of “Silent Night.” Offering will benefit the Vermont Food Bank.

Sunday, Dec. 31, 10:00 am (with live stream) – Watch night worship service. On the last day of the year, we’ll join in a service of reflection and recommitment to the one whose birth we’ve heralded. And we’ll sing some more carols. 🙂

I look forward to welcoming new and familiar faces as we find our way through this sacred season.
