June 6, 2022- Pastor Jen’s ordination

I am away this week (Wednesday-Sunday) at Annual Conference in Manchester, NH.

My ordination will take place on Saturday, June 11 at 2:00 pm, and the event will be live streamed. The direct link is not yet posted, but it will be available on the New England Conference website closer to the time. I will be one of four ordained as elders in full connection. Two elders and one deacon will also be commissioned as provisional members during the service, which is what I became four years ago. For those who love pomp and circumstance—you won’t want to miss it. 🙂

Of course, I look forward to celebrating with everyone back in Underhill on Saturday, June 18. As red is also the liturgical color for ordinations, our fiery Pentecost display will remain in place for the next few weeks. I hope we all have a chance to soak up the passion of the Spirit as we worship together.

This Sunday, several members of UCU will take the lead in a service that celebrates women in ministry and the church. As I’ll share via some pre-recorded opening remarks, the ordination of women is far from universally accepted, and not to be taken for granted in the corners of the church where it is practiced. This Sunday’s worship will direct us toward gratitude and advocacy, acknowledging women’s ancient yet ever-challenged place in church leadership.

With prayers for wisdom along this week’s paths,

Pastor Jen
