Join Us This Sunday!
This week, we conclude our advent journey having finally reached Bethlehem, a place of humility. The children from Sunday Friends, with the help of some youth and adults, will tell of that arrival in this year’s pageant. Our seasonal choir will share an anthem that prepares our hearts to receive God’s gift of peace. And we all in prayer and spirit will share in and of the love that came down at Christmas.

On December 22, we will take a special offering to benefit retired clergy of the United Church of Christ (next year the United Methodist Church will receive this collection). The Christmas Fund of the UCC has been caring for active and retired clergy and lay employees of the denomination for over 100 years. The fund provides emergency grants, supplementation of small annuities and health premiums as well as Christmas “Thank You” gift checks each December to lower-income retirees. You can give securely online to both this and our regular offerings.

Sunday, December 29th, as we continue to celebrate God’s love born in the manger, we’ll hear some Christmas stories from beyond our scripture that shed further light on the meaning of Christ’s birth. Tracie Wright will lead this abbreviated service, which will include time for prayer, sharing of gifts, and our December birthday bank offering for the quilting ministry.

As 2024 draws to a close, we are grateful for the abundant giving that has sustained us this year. You can give securely online to both regular and our seasonal mission offerings for retired clergy and the Vermont Food Bank.

Sunday, January 5, we follow the star and welcome the Magi, who come bearing gifts for the Christ child. As we enter a new year, we’ll have an opportunity to choose a star word: a light to guide us for the next phase of the journey.
If you’re worshipping online, you may choose a star word through this online star word generator. (If the word doesn’t speak to you, you can click “get my word” to choose a new one.)
We’ll also gather around the communion table, beginning the year with grace-filled nourishment for the travels ahead.
